Nick Simmons has revealed details of his Radical Publishing comic series Incarnate. Simmons, the son of KISS frontman Gene Simmons and Model/Actress Shannon Tweed, worked as a writer and artist on the supernatural horror serial. The venture sees the creator follow in the footsteps of his father, who appeared in a Marvel Comic along with the rest of his band in 1977.

Simmons said,

“My dad is proud to point out that that’s the bestselling Marvel comic of all time because it was a single issue and KISS fans are collectors,” .

Chronicling the conflicts of an immortal race known as Revenants, Incarnate has been dubbed ‘American Manga’, as Simmons has illustrated the project based on the popular Japanese art style.

“My dad grew up in that era, so that was his thing… I’ve always been a fan of manga. That’s how I’ve always drawn, so if I tried to draw naturalistically, that would be a new thing.”

The series has garnered critical acclaim and enjoyed commercial success, but the creator attributes much of this to his father.

“I have no illusions. It’s all my dad’s doing. I’d be an idiot not to use that resource. I wrote and drew a comic book, but the fact I get press for it is entirely due to my father. I’m under no illusions about that. And I’m grateful for it.”

Incarnate #1 and #2 are on sale now. Issue #3 is released on December 30.
