New Trailer for Syfy’s BITTEN, a Great Addition to a Crowded Monday Night

Remember the good (if frustrating) ol’ days of Fridaymageddon, when we would get around 12 great shows broadcast over the span of a few hours, usually more than we could fit onto one DVR? Happily, newly-minted Manic Mondays, while very crowded starting tonight, are actually manageable, between watching live and recording on your DVR.

At the top of the evening (8/7c) we have the season premiere of Lost Girl on Syfy and Almost Human on Fox, followed by the season premiere of Being Human on Syfy (check out my spoiler-free review here) and the return of Sleepy Hollow on Fox, followed by a new episode of Teen Wolf on MTV and the series premiere of Bitten on Syfy. And best of all? Each and every one of these series are (usually) terrific. (Sorry, Lost Girl fans, this season premiere isn’t the greatest, but it looks like the season will improve over time.)

Yes, “terrific” includes brand new series Bitten. It is solidly entertaining. Much more grounded than Lost Girl, a more mature cast than Teen Wolf, and none of the angst of The Vampire Diaries, it’s a series with strong, interesting, likable characters and a well-written, slowly-revealed backstory, with a few twists and turns here and there. Check out the trailer, then check out the premiere tonight:

Trailer: Bitten – Season 1: Welcome to the Pack

I gotta say, I love that the werewolves on this series look like wolves. It’s in keeping with the more natural, less supernatural look and feel of the show, and it’s a cool change of pace.

Bitten, starring Laura VandervoortGreg BrykGreyston Holt, and Paul Greene, premieres Monday, January 13 at 10/9c on Syfy.
