IDW and Hasbro are teaming up in honour of the upcoming 30th anniversary of the Transformers, much to the delight of action figure and comic book fans everywhere. New images have surfaced detailing both the cover art and toy designs of the upcoming comic/action figure packs being released as part of Transformers: Generations line.
Online vendor Entertainment Earth was the first site to publish the updated images of the figures with their respective “Spotlight:” covers. Though the comics are re-issues of earlier releases, each has been given exclusive new cover art featuring a standalone image of the central character. All of the toy designs are based off of how the characters appeared in IDW’s interpretation of the classic franchise.
The first wave of these new figures will consist of Orion Pax (Optimus before he was Prime), Bumblebee (in a live-action-movie inspired corvette mode), Trailcutter (known as Trailbreaker to fans of the 1984 cartoon), and Megatron (whose new stealth bomber mode was designed by IDW’s Don Figueroa). More comic/figure bundles are expected in the coming months.
