NCSoft Takes a New Approach to the MMORPG with WILDSTAR

Developer NCSoft has been busy this year. Their work on the sequel to Guild Wars, the aptly titled Guild Wars 2, looks to be one of the most polished MMORPGs the industry has seen since World of Warcraft first hit the scene back in 2004. While buzz for the free to play online fantasy game is only building with time, they’ve managed to hit us again with a new project by their Southern Califoria-based Carbine Studios.

WildStar is a game that looks to mash-up sci-fi and fantasy elements in a fun and cartoonish style. The video below features a tough as nails fighter, some sort of bunny-girl botanist/mage, and what looks to be a gunslinging archaeologist…yes. A GUNSLINGING ARCHAEOLOGIST!!!  The trailer below debuted at GamesCom and looks like it would be one kick ass film; if half of the character displayed in this cinematic makes it into the game, then Carbine has something really special on its hands.
