NBC Takes on J.J. Abrams and Alfonso Cuarón Pilot

Now here’s an intriguing combination. Alfonso Cuarón, who directed the very different, stylistic-looking Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, and wrote and directed Children of Men and 2013’s Gravity, is set to hop over to the small screen to co-write and direct a new TV pilot produced by J.J. Abrams which has been picked up for production by NBC.

According to Deadline, the untitled story will be about a girl who has special powers which will manifest in seven years, and a man who is released from prison in order to protect her from those who are hunting her. The pilot will be co-written by Mark Friedman (The Forgotten). Warner Bros. Television and Bad Robot are producing. Executive producers are Abrams, Cuarón, Friedman and Bryan Burk, with Kathy Lingg co-executive producing.

As always, we’ll keep you posted…
