If you’re a horror fan, and especially if you’re an Anglophile horror fan, you have hopefully been watching The Fades. Not only is it a neat bit of horror with decent effects and an interesting mythology, but it has heart. Don’t worry, it’s not smarmy heart. It’s the interaction of best friends Paul and Mac that give it an extra dimension and periodically lighten a very dark theme.

If you haven’t seen it yet, or even if you have, check out the scene below. It wasn’t actually used in the last episode, but is a great example of how these two are together. In addition, each of us have probably been on one side or the other of a conversation like this at some point in our geeky lives:
