Munsters Reboot Casts its Poor Marilyn

If you’ve ever seen an episode of the 1960s half hour horror comedy The Munsters, you will know that every family member is horrifically creepy, except for one: Lily Munster’s niece “poor Marilyn,” whom the rest of the family pitied for her unfortunate lack of awfulness. The non-horror world of course found her quite attractive.

Deadline is reporting that Bryan Fuller‘s (Pushing Daisies) reboot of The Munsters for NBC, hour-long drama Mockingbird Lane, has now cast its “poor Marilyn”, and she is appropriately lovely. Her name is Charity Wakefield (The Raven, Sense and Sensibility), and as you may have guessed from her first name, she’s British. Since the actor playing Grandpa, Eddie Izzard, is also British, might we hope to hear some lovely accents? Doubtful, but we can always hope.

Her character is said to be a courteous college student who often butts heads with fedora-wearing womanizer vampire Grandpa Munster, but gets along wonderfully with Aunt Lily, Uncle Herman, and young cousin Eddie.

We’ll keep you posted.
