The longer I think about Captain Planet, the cartoon from the early 1990’s, the more it would make sense today. The environment is still an important issue and the Planeteers with their magic rings could actually be pretty cool redone in today’s technology. That could possibly be the plan for a movie, Captain Planet and the Planeteers.

“By our powers combined…” Sony is in final talks to get the rights to the franchise for adaptation, according to THR, to be produced by Mark Gordon, Don Murphy and Susan Montford.

The question remains. Will Captain Planet retain his green mullet? Only time will tell. “THE POWER IS YOURS!”
