We first brought word that the IDW graphic novel Lore, created by Ashley Wood and T.P. Louise, was heading to the big screen back in the summer of 2010. It looks like Warner Bros. Pictures has won out over three other studios for the bid for Lore and has taken on this project as a way to pimp out one of the hottest action stars on the rise today – Dwayne Johnson (G.I. Joe: Retaliation, Fast Five).
According to Deadline, Johnson is attached to star in Lore to create an action-adventure franchise similar to Men In Black but focusing on mythological creatures instead of aliens. The story centers on “a young man who reluctantly becomes a member of an elite secret order charged with protecting humanity from the beasts of folklore who invade our world.”
Cory Goodman (Priest) and Jeremy Lott have been tapped to write the screenplay. Andrew Lazar, David Alpert, and Rick Jacobs are producers on the project. IDW’s Ted Adams along with creator Ashley Wood will executive produce with Miri Yoon.
No official release date has been announced for Lore.
