More ARROW Casting Plus Insider Info on Continuity With the Comics

Its Dr. Moon! Dr. Moon from Doctor Who‘s “Silence in the Library” and “Forest of the Dead”! We love him! And now we’ll get to see Colin Salmon in a US show – as long as The CW picks up the Arrow pilot to series. He has been cast as as Oliver Queen’s stepdad, former business associate of Oliver’s late dad, the number two man at Queen Consolidated, Walter Steele.

And he’s not the only Brit to be newly cast in the show. Deadline has reported that Paul Blackthorne will be billed as a guest star on the show, since as we know he’s currently a cast member of The River (he’s the producer). In Arrow he’s been cast as Det. Quentin Lance, the father of Oliver’s love interest Laurel (Katie Cassidy), who will make it his mission to capture that vigilante Arrow…

Doubtful that he’ll be playing British in Arrow; that’s his natural accent we hear from him in The River, but he did have a great American accent as Harry Dresden in the wonderful Dresden Files.

Third of the new hires is Jamey Sheridan, who has been in about a billion things  but is probably best known as the Captain in Law & Order: Criminal Intent and the Vice President in Homeland. He’ll be guest starring as Robert Queen, Oliver’s father.

TVLine recently asked producer Warner Bros. TV‘s president Peter Roth about continuity with the Arrow characters from DC Comics.

We’re working very, very closely with DC [Comics]… We’re making sure that each of the original characters are honored, are respected, and any changes that we make are being made with the sanction and endorsement of DC.

He was also asked if the tone of the pilot will be closer to its CW sister show Nikita or to former CW series Smallville. His reply? “I would say that, tonally, the show probably lives most closely – in terms of analogy – to the world of Jason Bourne.”

Oh I am SO gonna watch this! Come on, The CW, please pick up this pilot!
