Actress Milla Jovovich (Faces in the Crowd, The Three Musketeers), or as she’s known in my house “She for whom I would pay to whisper the contents of the phonebook in Russian into my ear”, or “the only woman who could possibly end my marriage” has revealed the title for Resident Evil 5.

Milla stated on Twitter (before deleting the referring post) that

“It’s not called “Begins” [laughs]! It “began” 10 years ago! [laughs]! I think it’s called Resident Evil: Retribution, but I have to ask Paul to be sure.”

She followed that up by exclaiming how jazzed she is about her husband/director Paul W.S. Anderson‘s ideas for the forthcoming installment.

OMG! Paul has such a grt idea 4 the nxt RE film and there will b a HUGE surprise abt the origin of Alice!

paul is still writing the script, but he’s got the story down. Its gonna b CRAZY! N fans r gonna luv who we bring back! As well as new characters n the zombies r goin 2 the nxt level!!!!

Milla also said that Anderson is going straight to the fans and the source for ideas for the upcoming film:

“They’re professionals! All they do is play the games until they master every level and unlock every code. They play the games for weeks and give Paul the footage, so he’s literally watching days of the most awesome RE players out there to get inspiration for the next chapter.”

Resident Evil 5 Resident Evil: Retribution is slated to hit theaters on September 14, 2012.
