Back in October there was a rumor floating around that Paramount Pictures had signed director Michael Bay to direct a fourth and fifth Transformers film back-to-back, after the box office success of Transformers: Dark of the Moon, despite the director previously stating the third film would be his last.
At the time Bay responded to the rumor by saying,
“I am currently not talking to Paramount on T4 and T5 despite reports. I’m looking at a lot of possibilities coming my way right now weighing options. Most likely going to be doing the low budget Pain and Gain, a true story crime thriller. It’s a very quick shoot and quite funny. Also just finishing the 3 disc set of the Transformers trilogy.”
Now, MTV reports that producer Lorenzo Di Bonaventura has confirmed that Bay will now be directing the fourth installment, it will be released in 2014, and it’s being considered a reboot.
Di Bonaventura said,
“Michael’s going to direct it”
“It will be in the summer of 2014”
“I think the challenge there is we really are going to do a reboot”
The as yet Untitled Transformers Sequel (Reboot) is slated to hit theaters on June 29, 2014.
