Men In Black III: Sharlto Copley, Gemma Arterton, Alec Baldwin, Betty White and a Pussycat Doll Join The Cast

Just a few weeks ago, we told you that Emma Thompson (Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2) was (and reportedly still is) in negotiations to join the cast of director Barry Sonnenfeld‘s latest installment of the Men in Black franchise, Men in Black III. Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones will be reprising their roles, Josh Brolin will portray a younger version of Tommy Lee Jones’ character, Agent Kay, and Jemaine Clement will portray the villain.

Now, Pajiba reports that Gemma Arterton (Tamara Drewe), Alec Baldwin (30 Rock), and Sharlto Copley (District 9, The A-Team) are in talks to join Men in Black III. Their sources say that Arterton would play a secretary at the 1969 version of MIB, Baldwin would play the 1969 MIB boss; and Copley would play a fast-talking Yoda type alien. Bloody-Disgusting is reporting that Betty White (You Again) has landed a cameo role in Men in Black III, and leader of the Pussycat Dolls, Nicole Scherzinger has been offered the role of “Devil Girl”, which is rumored to be the girlfriend of Clement’s character.

[Update]

E! spoke to Betty White at the BAFTA Los Angeles Britannia Awards, and asked her about her upcoming role in Men in Black III.

The actress insists that she won’t appear in the movie:

“Where did that come from? All these rumors come up but there is absolutely no truth to any of it.”

[Update]

NYMag reports that Alec Baldwin has left the project. The star said,

“I’m not doing that. I’m out of it. The schedule didn’t work out.”

Men in Black III is slated to hit theaters on May 25th, 2012.
