McG and Breck Eisner Competing Over OUIJA

We told you last month that director Pierre Morel (Taken) was in contention to helm Universal Pictures‘ big-screen adaptation of the Hasbro board game OUIJA, at the same time, the director was in talks to helm the Sam Raimi produced, EDF (Earth Defense Force) for Warner Bros. Morel opted for Raimi’s EDF, and took himself out of contention for OUIJA, leaving Universal to shop for a new director for the film.

Now, THR is reporting that Breck Eisner (The Crazies) has pitched his take on the material, and McG (Terminator Salvation) has his sights on the film and recently presented his vision for the project to the execs at Universal as well.

The script for OUIJA was penned by TRON: Legacy writers, Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz for Michael Bay’s Platinum Dunes. The story is described as a four-quadrant supernatural adventure centering around a family, with influences from The Mummy and Indiana Jones.

Ouija is slated to hit theaters on November 9th, 2012.
