Marvel-branded slot machines could be under threat following Disney’s recent acquisition of the comic book giant.

The firm has a long-standing relationship with the casino industry, developing slot machines featuring the likes of Spider-Man, Iron Man and the Hulk. It has been speculated that this partnership could now be in jeopardy due to Disney’s family-orientated brand name.

Although Disney could potentially bring an end to the agreement, a contract for online Marvel slot machines is still legally binding, and will remain in place for several more years.

Despite these rumours, Justin Thouin, vice president of online gambling company CryptoLogic, remains upbeat. “We do not anticipate the potential purchase of Marvel by Disney to impact our ability to continue to offer these games,” he said.

Marvel Comics currently owns slot machines in casinos, pubs and amusement arcades worldwide, as well as online. Due to their association with popular culture, the machines have proven extremely successful.
