Mark Waid Expands ‘The Incredibles’ Comics

incredibles_aThis week BOOM! Studios begins its ongoing series based on Disney and Pixar’s film The Incredibles.

Mark Waid (Irredeemable, Kindom Come) and Marcio Takara – creators of the original BOOM! miniseries The Incredibles: Family Matters – will return for the new ongoing title.

The 2004 computer-animated film introduced the Parrs, a family of super-powered heroes.

“The first new issue, our zero issue, is a standalone story that also ties into the next arc (issues one through three),” Waid explained to Newsarama.

“In #0, we flash back to the day Jack-Jack (the youngest member of the family) was born and the tumult of the plainclothes Incredibles having to fight their way past a phalanx of super-villains just to get to the hospital.

“Then, issues #1-3, which can be read apart from #0, show the consequences of one moment of that day – Jack-Jack has, for months, been unknowingly incubating a super-powered virus that’s given him a nasty head cold – and gives super-powers to everyone he sneezes at.”

The Incredibles #0 is out this week.
