Mark Ruffalo’s INCREDIBLE HULK Will Return Beyond His Appearance In THE AVENGERS

Just two weeks ago we told you that Mark Ruffalo (Second Coming) who has been cast in the role of Bruce Banner in Marvel Studios upcoming superhero team-up, The Avengers directed by Joss Whedon would not only be playing Banner but, through the magic of motion-capture, he will portray The Incredible Hulk as well.

Now, speaking with Empire, Ruffalo revealed that he may be playing the character beyond The Avengers and not just in potential sequels to Joss Whedon‘s freshman venture into the Marvel Studios universe, but also for more stand-alone movies featuring the character.

Ruffalo said,

“They set up several pictures over a couple of years and possibly there will be another The Incredible Hulk movie. There’ll probably be a couple more Avengers too, which would be fun. The way I see it, Edward Norton has bequeathed this role to me. I reckon the part is my generation’s Hamlet, and there’s still some room for interpreting who The Incredible Hulk is.”

The Avengers stars Robert Downey, Jr. (Iron Man), Chris Evans (Captain America), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury), Clark Gregg (Phil Coulson), Mark Ruffalo (The Hulk) and Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye).

The Avengers is slated to hit theaters on May 4th, 2012.
