Marion Cotillard Insists She’s NOT Talia Al Ghul in THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Back in January, we brought you an interview with young actress Joey King (Battle: Los Angeles, Oz: The Great and Powerful) who had previously scored an unspecified role in director Christopher Nolan‘s forthcoming Bat-film, The Dark Knight Rises starring Christian Bale, Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway.

[Spoilers Below]

During the interview, the 13 year-old actress slipped a bit by revealing her role in Nolan’s highly anticipated film, when she said I play young Talia al Ghul. I can’t give too much away because I promised Mr. Nolan I wouldn’t say anything. There are too many secrets about the character and the movie.

Being that King confirmed there was a “young Talia al Ghul” in the film, we assumed that there must be an older Talia al Ghul, so King’s confirmation further convinced us that Marion Cotillard wasn’t really playing “Miranda Tate” any more than Liam Neeson played Henri Ducard in Batman Begins.

While recently speaking with THR, Marion Cotillard says that despite the rumors and speculation, she is not playing Talia al Ghul:

The actress told the trade that there were long gaps when she wasn’t needed and added,

“It was a very, very small role”

Cotillard didn’t reveal much about the film, but confirmed that contrary to some fans’ belief, she does not play Talia, the vengeful daughter of Liam Neeson‘s character, Ra’s Al Ghul (who also appeared in Batman Begins), and reaffirmed that her role is that of Miranda Tate, whom she said –

“is fascinated by Wayne Enterprises. They go through difficulties, and she wants to help provide the world clean energies. She’s a good guy.”

When questioned whether or not her character stays “a good guy”, Cotillard insisted,

“Yes”
