M. Night Shymalan and Fox Unite for WAYWARD PINES

Fox-Network-Logo-wide

M. Night Shyamalan has united with Fox to bring us a new project and we have now learned that the show in question is called Wayward Pines. When they describe this mysterious series they use descriptor words like, “Twin Peaks.” We sure do like the sound of that!

Here’s the report from Deadline.

Based on the best-selling novel Pines by Blake Crouch, Wayward Pines is an intense, mind-bending thriller evocative of the classic cult hit Twin Peaks. Secret Service agent Ethan Burke arrives in the bucolic town of Wayward Pines, ID, on a mission to find two missing federal agents. But instead of answers, Ethan’s investigation only turns up more questions. What’s wrong with Wayward Pines? Each step closer to the truth takes Ethan further from the life he knew, from the husband and father he was, until he must face the terrifying reality that he may never get out of Wayward Pines alive. Wayward Pines was written on spec by [Chad] Hodge (The Playboy Club) and executive produced by Shyamalan, Hodge, Donald De Line (Green Lantern) and Ashwin Rajan (After Earth).

Wayward Pines is expected to be a 10-12 episode “event” limited series, along with others to be developed by Fox. It of course is not to be confused with the Shymalan project we mentioned in August with Syfy, because obviously, this is a different network completely. Can’t wait for more news on this project with Fox, and we will keep you posted as we hear.
