M. Night Shyamalan’s ONE THOUSAND A.E. Script Gets Stephen Gaghan Rewrite

Way back in April, we brought you the news when Sony Pictures announced that both Will Smith (Men In Black III) and Jaden Smith (The Karate Kid) signed on to star in an (at the time) untitled science fiction film directed by M. Night Shyamalan and co-written by Shymalan and Gary Whitta (The Book of Eli).

According to Variety, the now titled film One Thousand A.E. has reportedly gotten a rewrite by Oscar-winning screenwriter Stephen Gaghan (Traffic, Syriana), and production on the film is slated to begin in February of next year. Gaghan may reportedly stay on board the project for further rewrites.

Real life father and son, Will Smith and Jaden Smith are set to star as a father and son who crash-land on Earth one thousand years after mankind has abandoned the planet. The crash leaves the elder Smith badly injured, and it’s up to the boy to find help in what is now a strange and dangerous place.

One Thousand A.E. is slated to hit theaters in 2013.
