There hasn’t been too much recent news on Ridley Scott‘s forthcoming Untitled Alien Prequel #1 for 20th Century Fox. The last we heard was that there would be two 3D prequels. Now, a new writer has reportedly left the island behind to come aboard Ridley Scott‘s ship.

Deadline is reporting that Lost co-creator Damon Lindelof has been brought on to rewrite the Untitled Alien Prequel. This will be Lindelof’s first solo screenwriting project and this film could potentially be turned into a stand-alone sci-fi film, based on the take that Lindelof and Ridley Scott came up with. Deadline reports that no decision will be made until Lindelof turns in his draft, which he is rewriting from the current draft written by Jon Spaihts.
