LOST – Michael Emerson Reveals Secrets Behind Dr. Linus

ABC is offering what they call “expert commentary” with a recent episode of “Lost”. Everyone’s fave baddie and Emmy-award-winner Michael Emerson has provided a commentary on the episode entitled “Dr. Linus” on ABC.com. This is the first episode that ABC has presented commentary with an actor from the main cast of “Lost”.

Mind you, this commentary is not in the format that you are accustomed to. Usually, commentaries are presented with the commentary track overlaid on top of the episode. This “Lost” commentary is done in such a way that you read Emerson’s comments in real time, alongside the episode with no overlaid track.

Past expert commentaries include those by actor Daniel Robuck (Dr. Leslie Arzt), Rob Kyker (prop master), blogger Jon Lachonis (of DocArzt), and Entertainment Weekly’s Jeff Jensen and Daniel Snierson.

This is just one feature of ABC.com’s fan-interactive site content allowing fans to create Top 5 lists, create their own commentaries, and participate in the “Ultimate LOST Fan Promo Contest”.

Here is the link to “Dr. Linus” with expert commentary from Michael Emerson.

Watch “Lost” on Tuesdays on ABC 9/8 C. The series’ two-hour finale will air on Sunday, May 23 at 9pm ET with an hour-long recap special preceding it.

[Commentary]

Even though I thought Emerson’s commentary was interesting, having to read it to the side of the screen was not conducive to watching the episode at the same time. It was hard to keep up with the comments appearing chat-room style and the commercials were more than a jarring interruption to the viewing experience.

I think it was fascinating to find out that Mario Van Peebles directed this particular episode. Watch/read the commentary for more of Emerson’s insights!
