LOST: Daniel Dae Kim And Nestor Carbonell Promise A Fulfilling Series Finale

Actors Daniel Dae Kim and Nestor Carbonell who play Jin Kwon and Richard Alpert respectively in ABC’s hit show “Lost” think that fans of the show will be happy with the series finale. Though both actors were, of course, tight-lipped about how exactly the show will end, they did their best to convey their impressions about the finale script.

Kim tickles our curiosity with the sentiment of mystery:

“I can say that, as with everything on the show, things often are not as they appear. With the baby and the relationship between Sun (Yunjin Kim) and Jin, I think people who are expecting things to turn out one particular way may be very surprised.”

They are shooting the series finale for “Lost” right now. Kim offers his reaction to the end as something full of contemplation and reflection:

“None of the actors, to the best of my knowledge, received the full script. I believe some scenes may be missing, because there are certain things that are set in motion that aren’t completed in what I have. That said, even without those scenes, I found the finale incredibly powerful. So much so that after I finished reading what I received, I had to sit for a few minutes after I closed the last page, just to reflect on it. It’s very emotionally resonant. I was satisfied by it. At its heart, Lost is a story about characters. There is a lot of sci-fi to it, but it’s all very human. The stakes are very real. It’s relatable. I really had to sit there in silence for a while because it meant a lot to me.”

Carbonell was similarly “blown away” by the finale script:

“Without giving too much away, I can tell you that as soon as I read that script I was certainly wanting some resolution. And I think there will be some element of resolution for Richard. I can’t say whether or not he has a chance at Isabella, but I just read the season finale and there has been some resolution for my character in a great way. The writers, yet again, just knocked it out of the park with the series finale. You’ll see it as the season progresses, what they’ve come up with is pretty mind-blowing. I’m definitely very fulfilled, not just about my character, but with the whole show in general.

“It’s an incredible task and they blew me away with what they come up with.”

Daniel Dae Kim is the first of the “Lost” actors to continue a presence on the small screen after the show concludes. He has been cast in CBS’ “Hawaii Five-O” pilot with Alex O’Loughlin.

Watch the remaining episodes of “Lost” on ABC, Tuesdays at 9/8pm C.
