Lily Collins Backs Away from the Remake of THE EVIL DEAD

Earlier this month we brought you the news when Lily Collins (Mirror Mirror, Priest) scored the lead role of Mia, the twenty-something whom a group of friends takes to a remote cabin for a drug intervention in director Fede Alvarez‘s remake of the Sam Raimi cult classic The Evil Dead.

Now, Bloody-Disgusting reports that Lily Collins has had to drop out of the project due to “Scheduling issues”. Now we have to wait and see who will be re-cast in the remake’s equivalent of Bruce Campbell‘s Ash.

Synopsis:

“Five twenty-something friends become holed up in a remote cabin where they discover a Book Of The Dead and unwittingly summon up dormant demons living in the nearby woods, which possess the youngsters in succession until only one is left intact to fight for survival.”

The Evil Dead is slated to hit theaters on April 12th, 2013.
