We told you way back in September that NBC had picked up a pilot for production that was to be produced by J.J. Abrams and co-written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón (Children of Men, Gravity). Co-written by Mark Friedman (The Forgotten), the pilot, which was officially picked up by NBC in January and now has a title – Believe – is about a girl who has special powers which will manifest in seven years, and a man who is released from prison in order to protect her from those who are hunting her.
Casting began earlier this month with Jake McLaughlin (Savages) taking on the role of the ex-con, Tate, and newcomer Johnny Sequoyah as Bo, the girl. Excellent, the main characters are in place, that bodes well for the project. But what has us really really excited is the news, posted by TVLine late last night, that beloved Special Agent Dale Cooper, Paul Atreides/Muad’dib, aka Kyle MacLachlan, has been cast as mysterious billionaire Skouras, who is said to have an even more mysterious agenda.
Also cast in the pilot are Delroy Lindo (you’ll know him from a billion things, but recently he was Alderman Gibbons on The Chicago Code), Jamie Chung (Mulan in Once Upon a Time and Amber in Sucker Punch) and Sienna Guillory (Jill Valentine in the Resident Evil movies).
Wow. J.J. Abrams, Bryan Burk, and Bad Robot producing. Written and directed by Alfonso Cuarón. Kyle MacLachlan. An excellent cast with great geek cred. Come on, NBC, please Believe in this series!
