We haven’t heard much of anything about the theatrical relaunch of Judge Dredd since January. Back then, John Wagner the creator of Dredd spoke a bit about the script by Alex Garland (28 Days Later, Sunshine) and concept art by Jock (2000 AD, The Losers) and how it was a truer representation of Dredd than the previous film.

Now comes word from Deadline that film garnered some pre-sale financing at the Cannes Film Festival where it was revealed that Alex Garland‘s script will be directed by Pete Travis (Vantage Point) and the comic book adaptation will released in 3D.

DNA Films and Reliance Big Entertainment will finance the film for around $50 million.
