Director Jonathan Liebesman (Battle: Los Angeles, Odysseus) will replace Clash of the Titans director Louis Leterrier for Warner Bros. upcoming sequel. Dan Mazeau (The Flash) and David Johnson (Red Riding Hood) are writing the script, which is based on a treatment written by Greg Berlanti (Green Lantern), Mazeau and Johnson.
THR reports that negotiations had been ongoing throughout the summer and that they hope to overcome the negative reactions to the first film, despite its $491 million worldwide gross. The film will be shot in 3D, as opposed to the rushed post-production conversion job on Leterrier’s Clash of the Titans.
Both Sam Worthington and Gemma Arterton are expected to reprise their roles as Perseus and Io for the sequel.
Clash of the Titans 2 is slated to hit theaters in 2012.
