Joel Kinnaman Says His ROBOCOP Will Be More Human

Earlier this month, we brought you the news when Joel Kinnaman (The Darkest Hour) was cast as the the super-human cyborg in director José Padilha‘s (Elite Squad, Elite Squad 2) forthcoming MGM remake of RoboCop. Prior to Kinnaman’s casting, Padilha spoke about how his version of the story will differ from the original, as well as hinting at possible redesigns for the character.

Now, while speaking with MTV, Joel Kinnaman let some details slip about some of the modifications that will be made to the design of RoboCop in the remake:

“RoboCop is going to be a lot more human. The first movie is one of my favorite movies. I love it. Of course, Paul Verhoeven has that very special tone, and it’s not going to have that tone. It’s a re-imagination of it. There’s a lot of stuff from the original. There are some details and throwbacks, but this version is a much better acting piece, for Alex Murphy and especially when he is RoboCop. It’s much more challenging. It’s not going to be jaw action. They’re still working on the suit and how it’s going to look, but the visor is going to be see-through. You’re going to see his eyes.”

RoboCop is slated to hit theaters on August 9th, 2013.
