Jessica Lange Confirmed for Season 2 of AMERICAN HORROR STORY

Best news of the week! American Horror Story showrunner Ryan Murphy has confirmed that the Golden Globe and Screen Actors Guild Best Supporting Actress will not only be returning to the show when Season 2 begins in the fall, but she’ll be starring in it.

“We have designed the second season of American Horror Story completely around her character,” Murphy told EW. But it won’t be the character we knew and loved in Season 1. She’ll be playing an entirely new and different character that she is helping to create.

Last year Jessica came in with Connie Britton and Dylan McDermott. This will really be the Jessica Lange show so I’m very excited about it. We are designing this amazing new opposite of the Constance character for her. She and I have spoken about different things. She has a lot of ideas, and has a lot of input into her character. She told me some things she has always wanted to play as an actress. She’s a great collaborator and a great friend.

Reportedly, the rest of the cast will be announced tonight when Murphy, Lange, Dylan McDermott, and Connie Britton appear on the American Horror Story panel at the opening night of Paleyfest, a two week festival of panels with some of the hottest shows on TV.

And guess who else is going to be there? SCIFI MAFIA. The panel begins at 7pm Pacific time, and if possible, I’ll be tweeting from the event as @lostersdcc, the account I use when live tweeting from panels which may include spoilers. Be watching for a full report here on the site next week.
