Jerry Bruckheimer On Stranger Tides As Fourth Pirates of the Caribbean Gets A Reduced Budget

Producer Jerry Bruckheimer recently told the LA Times that Walt Disney Pictures has reduced the budget for Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, spending $100 million less than it did on the previous installment, though Bruckheimer insisted that the audience would not notice the cuts in the final product.

Screenwriters Ted Eliott and Terry Rossio have been instructed to give Johnny Depp‘s character Jack Sparrow more scenes on land rather than at sea, because of the high cost of water scenes. They will also be moving filming locations from LA and the Caribbean to Hawaii and London, and cutting back on the number of shooting days and visual effects shots.

The Rob Marshall-directed Pirates Of The Caribbean: On Stranger Tides, starring Johnny Depp, Geoffrey Rush, Ian McShane and Penelope Cruz, starts filming in June and is slated to hit theaters on May 20th, 2011.
