JEM AND THE HOLOGRAMS Movie Casts its Leading Ladies (Teaser Poster)

Jem Wide

As a regular backseat viewer to all the Disney shows/movies that play on repeat I’m actually pretty excited about the cast that has been announced for the Jem and the Holograms which was an 80’s toy and cartoon hit with Hasbro.

Aubrey Peeples

According to THR, Audrey Peeples has been cast in the lead role as Jem (stay tuned to the end of this post for a teaser poster of the girls… er, a teaser poster of their hair, really). You may have enjoyed her work as Claudia (Tara Reid’s daughter) in Syfy’s Sharknado, but she showed off her singing chops in Disney Channel’s Austin & Ally and she’s for sure got what it takes to lead The Holograms.

Stefanie Scott

Stefanie Scott will be Jem’s sister Kimber. She did voice over work on Wreck-It Ralph as Moppet Girl and has also had a chance to show off her singing talents on Disney’s A.N.T. Farm.

Aurora Perrineau

Daughter of LOST star Harold Perrineau  (the man behind the WAAAAALT scream), Aurora Perrineau,  is relatively new to the scene with some work on Pretty Little Liars. She has been cast as Shana.

Hayley Kiyoko

Hayley Kiyoko has had appearances on Wizards of Waverly Place and The Vampire Diaries also played Velma in Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster, but was showcased as one of the lead singers in Disney’s Lemonade Mouth. She’s been cast as Aja.

I wasn’t kidding about my extensive Disney Channel experience. Here is the teaser poster released of Jem and The Holograms.

Jem-and-the-holograms

While Jem and The Holograms promises to be full of “exciting adventure, fashion and fame” the synopsis seems to have one key nostalgic ingredient missing from the original version.

[Jem and The Holograms]centers on an orphaned teenage girl who becomes an online recording sensation. She and her sisters embark on a music-driven scavenger hunt — one that sends them on an adventure across Los Angeles in an attempt to unlock a final message left by her father.

So… where does that leave Synergy? Because the original incarnation of Jem is just a holographic projection on Jerrica Benton as done by Synergy, a computer built by Jerrica’s father. Is Synergy on the cutting room floor?

We’ll keep you posted on the latest for Jem and the Holograms starring Audrey Peeples, Stefanie Scott, Aurora Perrineau, and Hayley Kiyoko.
