J.J. Abrams has found his female lead for his new spy series for NBC, “Undercovers“. Gugu Mbatha-Raw joins Boris Kodjoe (“Soul Food”) to play Samantha and Steven Bloom, a married couple that are both CIA agents. Mbatha-Raw played Tish Jones, sister of companion Martha Jones in the BBC’s “Doctor Who” and roles on “MI-5” and “Bonekickers“. She was most recently seen on Broadway’s “Hamlet” opposite Jude Law.
Some are billing “Undercovers” as “Alias” meets “Hart to Hart“. Abrams will indeed be directing the pilot episode.
