Iron Man 3 Heading to North Carolina; Looking for 1,000 Extras

We brought you the news back in April when Marvel Studios hired Drew Pearce to pen Tony Stark’s third solo trip to the big-screen for incoming director Shane Black (Lethal Weapon, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang). Iron Man 3 is slated to go into production in 2012, after production on The Avengers.

Production on the third installment is set to take place in Wilmington, North Carolina at the Screen Gems studios, and Premier Casting has posted a notice for extras:

“Iron Man 3 will use about 1,000 extras during the film and there will be over 550 crew jobs and will be shooting from May 2012 until January 2013 with a Memorial Day weekend release in 2013.”

At this year’s New York Comic-Con, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that a teaser for Iron Man 3 will be attached to the credits for The Avengers.

“It’s a nice tradition, and I like traditions, so I think we’ll keep that up”

Iron Man 3 is slated to hit theaters on May 3rd, 2013.
