Jon Favreau’s Iron Man 2 earned an estimated $7.5 million from more than 2,500 locations during it’s opening night shows. The sequel went on to earn an estimated $52.4 million at the domestic box office throughout its opening day Friday (May 7). The original Iron Man brought in only $35.2 million on opening day.

Iron Man 2 is on its way to earning an estimated $130 million domestically for the weekend. Worldwide, it’s taken in about $200 million so far.
