IRON FIST: Marvel Hires xXx Writer To Punch Up Script For Movie Adaptation

Almost a decade ago, Marvel attempted to make a feature film based on their Iron Fist character with actor/martial arts legend Ray Park (Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, Jinn) attached to star as Danny Rand/Iron Fist which never materialized.

Now, Deadline reports that Marvel Studios (Thor, Captain America: The First Avenger) has hired xXx screenwriter Rich Wilkes (xXx: The Return of Xander Cage) to pen the big-screen adaptation of Iron Fist. The character was created by Ray Thomas and Gil Kane in the 1970s and centers on Rand, a martial arts expert who gains a mystical power that turns his fists into indestructible weapons.

Iron Fist is slated to hit theaters in 2012, and like Doctor Strange will be distributed by Disney.
