The Gift Of Life

This episode unfolds the story of Agent Al’s FF- a letter he writes to the mysterious Celia bookends this ep. Burdened with the knowledge that he was to blame for the accidental death of Celia and for her two young sons becoming orphans, Al changes the game and takes his own life to save the life of a woman that he’s never met.

People who didn’t have a FF are coming together, but not for spiritual reinforcement or mutual support.  The FF team discovers this international cult as a disturbing den of no boundaries, functioning as an outlet for people with nothing to lose (think water-boarding, electrocution just for the fun of it).  Not surprisingly, Demetri is the one who discovers this lead to further the investigation into the people with blue hands found shot in the house Dem and Al found in connection with the Blue Hand stamp on one of Janice’s assassins.  One of these suicides is the Rutherford case that Al saw in his FF.

Choose Hope

Tensions between Demetri and Zoe grow as he is withdraws from her more each day.  He finally confides in her that he didn’t see anything in his FF.  She chooses her vision of the future to believe in and urges Dem to do the same.

Mike, a man who served with his daughter, Tracy, came to give Aaron the lucky pocketknife he had given to Tracy.  He will give this pocketknife back to her in his FF.  This affirms his hope that Tracy is alive even though Mike claims to have witnessed her death.

OTHER BURNING QUESTIONS:

• What Al said about taping the window, will it change the fate of the bird hitting the window in Al and Fiona’s FF? Will Celia still die as she is ‘destined by FF’ to do?
• Who is the girl in Bryce’s sketch?  The Japanese character meaning “believe” is behind her.
• Wait, Tracy is ALIVE and in Aaron’s kitchen (pictured above)?  Is he hallucinating?  He’s supposed to save her!
• The Mosaic site is helping Ghosts find other Ghosts and thus recruit for the Blue Hand.  What other ways is the Mosaic site being used?
• Bryce’s FF was also fragmented.  Why?
• Simon is seen at the end of the ep contemplating over a child’s charm bracelet spelling out the name, Annabelle. Who is she?

COMMENTARY:

• I’ve seen this ep several times and Al’s story still makes me cry.  FlashForward delivers another powerful ep in my book.
• My guess of Tracy missing a leg could be true if Aaron was hallucinating in his house.
