When something works then Hollywood tends to try to continue to capitalize on it. Game of Thrones has seen great popularity with its two seasons on HBO and a third upcoming. On the movie side, Disney is about to release Oz: The Great and Powerful with much anticipation. So Warner Horizon says HEY, let’s mash these two up! Think of Dorothy on an adventure in Oz wielding a sword rather than a picnic basket, and they’re calling it Red Brick Road.
Reports from THR describe the show as “a continuation of the Wizard of Oz story but told in a Game of Thrones fashion, filled with politics, intrigue and violence.” I’d watch that.
The show is being created by Rob Prior who has a background in conceptual art. Producers for the show are Mark Wolper, Roy Lee and Adrian Askarieh. Wolper and Lee are attached to A&E’s Psycho prequel series Bates Motel. Co-executive Producers are John Middelston and Jeff Krelitz.
No casting or air date as of yet, but we’ll keep you posted on the latest for Red Brick Road.
