Image Comics has announced that a new chapter in the Image United series will arrive early next year. Image United: Interlude will pick up where the crossover event left off, bringing in characters from the publisher’s expanded universe. The plot will revolve around the character Invincible.

Creator Robert Kirkman says,

“As the scope of Image United became larger and larger, it was apparent we would really need to touch on what the rest of the Image universe is up to”

“The goal behind the miniseries is to create an even tighter Image universe than ever before, so not only do we get to see how this affects Image founder characters like Spawn, Youngblood and Savage Dragon, but we’re bringing in Invincible, among many other surprises.”

Written by Kirkman, the one-shot is illustrated by Ryan Ottley and other fan-favorite artists. A full cast of characters is expected to be announced soon.

Image United: Interlude will be released on March 31, 2010.
