HUMAN TARGET Falls Victim To Hit By Fox – Network Cancels Series

Sadly, there was no one to protect Human Target from assassination by its network. Fox has just announced that the comic book-based series will not be renewed for a third season. Even after the show’s dynamic was changed in season two with the addition of two females, Indira Varma and Janet Montgomery, to the all male team of Mark Valley, Chi McBride, and Jackie Earle Haley, ratings did not impress Fox.

Also in cancellation news, Fox has cancelled Breaking In, the Christian Slater led comedy with Reaper’s Bret Harrison and Smallville’s Michael Rosenbaum only a few episodes into its freshman run.

Bloody freakin’ hell. Another two shows that I like bite the dust. Fox, I find your lack of faith disturbing!

Human Target was a great action drama that had legs (and not just the ones on the females.) Even the addition of estrogen to the testosterone-laden show seemed to work for it in season two. We need a show like this where a daring and dashing hero saves the day. Heck, even Buddhist monks envied Christopher Chance’s cool. I also really enjoyed Haley as sane-sort-of-insane-Guerrero. This show should have been given another season.

As for Breaking In, strictly speaking, it is not a sci-fi show, but it does have Bret Harrison and Michael Rosenbaum in it and it did have plentiful geek references embedded into the show and completely geeky team member and even an episode that took place at Comic Con. Rosenbaum’s Dutch was so unlike his Lex Luthor character and simply genius as a “loveable douchebag” as Rosenbaum called it. This one wasn’t even given a proper chance!
