News of Phillip Seymour Hoffman’s death came as a complete shock to fans on Sunday when the actor was found dead in his New York apartment at the age of 46. He was undeniably a very talented actor who we will miss seeing on the big screen. In the wake of his passing fans are left to wonder if there will be any impact on the release of his latest project, The Hunger Games: Mockingjay.
According to THR, all of Hoffman’s scenes for Mockingjay (which is being released in two films) have been shot except for one, and it’s a major one. But Lionsgate executives aren’t worried.
We’re all extraordinarily sad, but as it relates to production, it’s going to have no impact. Obviously, we’re going to have a couple of work-around issues but the movie will be creatively whole. His performances in both [remaining] movies will be up to the best of his craft. We feel it will be a good tribute to him.
The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 1 starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Natalie Dormer is slated to hit theaters on November 21, 2014, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay Part 2 is slated to hit theaters on November 20, 2015.
