The CW’s “Vampire Diaries” love triangle is heating up in an upcoming episode featuring Vamps, Katherine (Nina Dobrev) and Damon (Ian Somerhalder) who will be sharing some intimate screen time. Dobrev, who plays both Nina, the human object of the vampire brothers Salvatore, and the vampire Katherine in flash-backs, spills about the upcoming Katherine-centric episode:
“There’s a big episode coming up that’s all about Katherine. I love playing her because she’s everything I’m not and I can get it all out of my system. I actually have modeled the character after Ian’s performance of Damon, because he does it so well.”
Somerhalder talks about the modern day love triangle between Elena, Stefan, and Damon:
“I think what Elena will learn is that even though he is a diabolical jerk, Damon speaks the truth. He does not lie. And Stefan (Paul Wesley) has lied to her. So Damon will win Elena over in that capacity. And who’s to say Stefan isn’t a little bit evil anyway? He definitely has some evil in him.”
Executive producer and writer, Kevin Williamson explains how the absence of Stefan (Paul Wesley) will change the dynamic between Elena and Damon:
“One of the things that’s going to be really interesting is Damon and Elena sort of have some alone time. They have a little bit of an adventure where there’s no Stefan. There’s just the two of them. We’re going to explore how their relationship’s on its own terms.”
What about the Katherine plotline now?
Williamson addresses Damon’s plot to rescue Katherine from being sealed in the basement of the old church:
“Yes, Damon has an agenda. He is going to save Katherine. He is going to do everything he can to get to her. So, yes, that tomb is still in play… The cork will be pulled on the whole basement thing. Before the first season is over.”
Will we see more of Alaric Saltzman?
Williamson confirms more of Alaric (Matthew Davis) in upcoming episodes:
“There is definitely something with him. We’re going to have fun. That’s the thing. He’s just blown onto the scene, and we haven’t had a chance to explore his background. In the coming episodes, we’re going to learn more about him. We’ll see what his past is like and what brought him to Mystic Falls, and we’ll see what his agenda is.”
Mia Kirshner will appear as Saltzman’s wife in flashbacks.
Do characters stay dead on this show?
Williamson addresses this question:
“Vicki is definitely dead and won’t be coming back.”
So, Vicki, played by Kayla Ewell, will not be reappearing on the show despite rumors.
Will Elena become a vampire in the TV show like she did in the books?
Co-executive producer and writer, Julie Plec answers this question:
“[Elena becomes a vampire] in the books but it won’t happen on this show til like season 37.”
Will Damon step in to sweep Elena off her feet?
Dobrev talks about her character Elena’s relationship with the baddie brother, Damon:
“It’s not a love triangle with only two people and. And now that the necklace is off, she’s very vulnerable. In the next episodes we’re going to see there’s going to be a lot of Damon and Elena.”
Casting News- “Vampire Diaries” adds hottie Melinda Clarke (pictured above) to its cast!
Melinda Clarke (The O.C., CSI) will play the role of Kelly Donovan, Matt’s “irresponsible, hard-drinking absentee mother” who didn’t even attend her own daughter’s funeral. This recurring role will have her appear in at least three episodes in March.
