David Anders, better known to the sci-fi community as Adam Monroe from NBC’s “Heroes”, has landed the recurring role in the CW’s “Vampire Diaries”. Anders portrays Jonathan Gilbert, the uncle to Elena and Jeremy Gilbert, who “comes to Mystic Falls to ‘cause some trouble’”, according to an inside source.
Yes, the name of his character is indeed close to the ancestor Gilbert whose journal had been recently the object of desire. That ancestor’s name was Johnathan Gilbert and was played by Joe Knezevich in a flashback to those times.
Anders had just been killed off “24” where he played Josef Bazhaev. He will appear in episodes of “Vampire Diaries” in April.
“Vampire Diaries” returns to the CW on Thursday, March 25th at 8/7pm C.
