Happy Birthday Wil Wheaton!

Today is the anniversary of the day that Mr. Wil Wheaton graced the Universe with his presence. You may know Wil from the internet as @wilw on twitter, or perhaps you’ve seen his portrayal of Fawkes on Felicia Day‘s webseries, The Guild, or maybe from that little-known, cult TV show, Star Trek: The Next Generation, or you may have even seen him on that CBS sitcom, The Big Bang Theory, where he has portrayed a fictional (and slightly evil) version of himself as Sheldon’s arch nemesis… Oh yeah, and he’s also on that hit show Eureka that airs on Syfy, alongside the aforementioned Felicia Day.

With that list of credits, you’re likely thinking “gee, is there anything Wil Wheaton CAN’T do?“. The answer to that is a resounding “Nope“. The man is also a prolific writer who has penned a few books, including Just A Geek, The Happiest Days of Our Lives, and Memories of the Future. He’s also done some exceptional voice work, some of my personal favorites being – Blue Beetle/Ted Kord on Batman: The Brave and the Bold, himself on Family Guy, and Aqualad on Teen Titans.

All of this really only scratches the surface of what Mr. Wheaton has accomplished in his meager 39 years on the planet thus far. What is likely his most important accomplishment, and what he has (from an outside observers standpoint) truly excelled at, is being a dedicated husband and father, along with being a really nice guy who hasn’t let fame go to his head, and stood by his own rule of “Don’t be a dick”.

From all of us here at SciFiMafia, Happy Birthday Wil Wheaton, thanks for not being a dick. You’re a gentleman, a scholar, and a credit to geeks everywhere!
