Hansel & Gretel: Witch Hunters To Be Shot In 3D; Release Date Announced


Earlier this month, Famke Janssen (Down the Shore, X-Men) signed on to play the leader of the witches, opposite Jeremy Renner (The Hurt Locker, The Avengers) and Gemma Arterton (Wrath of the Titans) as Hansel and Gretel in director Tommy Wirkola‘s (Dead Snow) Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters.

Now, THR reports that MGM is coming aboard to co-finance the project with Paramount Pictures, it will be shot in 3D  with a budget of $60 million and it is now slated to hit theaters in March of next year. The film picks up the fairy-tale siblings 15 years after their traumatic gingerbread house incident, which provoked them to become witch hunters.

Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is slated to hit theaters on March 3rd, 2012.
