Just last month we brought you the news that Pop/R&B artist/model Rihanna had joined the cast of director Peter Berg‘s upcoming sci-fi flick, Battleship. Now, we have word that Hamish Linklater (Fantastic Four) has reportedly joined the cast of the Universal Pictures film.

TheWrap reportst that Linklater will play Cal, “a brainy scientist.”, alongside Taylor Kitsch (X-Men Origins: Wolverine) as Alex Hopper, the Commanding Officer of a destroyer who is in charge of a team of five trusted shipmates which include the XO, a female Japanese commander, and a Scotty-like chief engineer. Hopper is described as “wildly spirited” and “a great seaman but a lousy politician.“, Alexander Skarsgård (True Blood) as Hopper’s brother, and will be “a straight and narrow naval officer whom Kitsch, a wildly spirited naval officer, idolizes.“, and the aforementioned Rihanna.
