The sixth Harry Potter film, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, already represents 65 percent of daily ticket sales at Fandango. The report is as of 9 a.m. PT yesterday.
Additionally, Potter looks primed to take down the Autobots, at this juncture in the sales cycle. Advance ticket sales for the new Potter movie are ahead of advance sales for Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen and the previous Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, at the same point in the sales cycle.
Who’s planning to see “Half-Blood Prince”? According to a Fandango survey, 85 percent of respondents planning to see the film have read all seven of the Potter books. Fandango, which is offering a free music download tied to advance ticket sales, reports that 84 percent of those planning to see “Half-Blood Prince” would be interested in visiting locations from the new film.
“Harry continues to be ‘The Chosen One’, especially among movie fans,” said Rick Butler, Chief Operating Officer for Fandango, in a release. “The Half-Blood Prince is turning out to be one of our fastest-selling titles of the year, and has consistently been a top-seller ever since tickets went on sale on June 17.”
Potentially good news for star Daniel Radcliffe: 80 percent of survey respondents would buy a ticket to a Daniel Radcliffe movie in which he doesn’t play Harry Potter. In the same survey, 73 percent reported they were “fine” with the last book being broken into two films.
