Back in April of 2010, we brought you news of Warner Bros. Pictures’ announcement to develop a new Treasure Island remake with Sherlock Holmes producer Lionel Wigram. At the time, a director had not been attached to the project to remake Robert Louis Stevenson’s classic novel.

Deadline reports that Guy Ritchie is to direct this Treasure Island remake and that Warner Bros. Pictures’ had also tapped Alex Harakis to write the script. Ritchie will also be producing alongside Wigram. This remake is to be a “stylized version of the classic novel, much in the way [of] Sherlock Holmes” that Ritchie directed and Wigram produced.
