Guillermo Del Toro Discussing Possiblity Of THE HOBBIT In 3D

Speaking to TheOneRing.net, director Guillermo del Toro confirmed that there have been preliminary discussions of doing the two-part adaptation of J.R.R. Tolkein’s book The Hobbit in 3D. There had been rumors in the past about a possible conversion, which at the time were denied. Now, del Toro has sent out this update to let everyone know that it’s being considered… not surprisingly based on the box office success of James Cameron’s Avatar.

del Toro said,

I wouldn’t read much on it just yet, but now, after all this time, after AVATAR doing the Box Office it did, we have had enquires from above about The Hobbit being in 3-D.

No impositions or heavy leaning. Just enquires. Just fulfilling my promise to let you all know if discussions ever started.

Cheers
