GREEN LANTERN To Start Filming In March

In terms of casting, we know only that Ryan Reynolds is playing the lead role of Hal Jordan, outside of that – the New Orleans shooting location and Director Martin Campbell revealing that there would be about 1,300 visual effects shots in the film, details about Green Lantern have been scarce. Now we have news that director Martin Campbell will begin filming the Warner Bros./DC Superhero film GREEN LANTERN in New Orleans, just 10 weeks from now.

The info came from the film’s visual effects supervisor Karen Goulekas, in a posting on her blog (which has since been removed).

She wrote:

“Green Lantern got the official green light today! And not a second too soon – only 10 weeks out from shooting! While it’s great news we are a go – now we have to actually get our prep done in 10 weeks! But we have an amazing crew – so we will make it happen!”

Green Lantern, which is based on a DC Comics hero who inherits a power ring, is to film in New Orleans. Martin Campbell will direct Ryan Reynolds in the lead role of Hal Jordan.

The movie is scheduled to hit theaters on June 17, 2011.
