Last year we told you that Legendary Pictures was developing a feature adaptation of the Warren Ellis comic book series, Gravel. Rick Alexander is producing the film and Warren Ellis is serving as both executive producer and penning the screenplay.

Ellis recently told MTV,

“I’m halfway through [Gravel] right now. I’m actually writing a new William Gravel story. It’s a horror-action thing in the whole combat magician mode of those books.”

Avatar Press publishes the ongoing series, which blends espionage and dark fantasy in tracking the modern-day exploits of British “combat magician” William Gravel. Ellis (Planetary) first introduced the character in a 1999 limited series of graphic novels entitled Strange Kiss.
